The Amflora potato inside and out: a scientific report

Amflora is the first genetically modified potato that is allowed to be cultivated in the European Union. It was developed by chemical company BASF for use in the paper and textile industry and in adhesives and construction materials. It’s a socalled ‘starch potato’. The market approval did not come easy: it took not less than 13 years. Why did it take so long? What made this potato so controversial?
